Growing up in a military family, he moved around the Southeast, before his family settled in the Charleston, South Carolina area.
In 2003 D.J. graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia earning both his law degree and a Masters in Business Administration.
During Law School, D.J. was a member of the William and Mary Law Review and was honored as the American College of Bankruptcy's gifted student for the Fourth Circuit.
Upon graduation from law school, D.J. was selected as the College of William and Mary's recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institute's Academic Award of Excellence.
