Every county handles the prosecution of a criminal offense differently.
Obviously the prosecution of a federal case is handled much differently than any case pending in a state court.
The system differs considerably given the type of criminal offense charged and where it is located.
The following is how, in very general terms, a given criminal case usually proceeds in Texas.
The first thing that occurs in most circumstances is the person is arrested.
If the arrest occurs in either Dallas or Collin County, Carl can help facilitate a jail release to help get the person out as fast as possible.
A very common question from those I represent is "what's going to happen at our first court setting/appearance" for my case?
While it's hard to answer this question without knowing the specifics of a case, generally speaking, most likely not a whole lot will occur.
Unless there is some underlying exception, the Defendant will not have to "go before the judge", and/or will not have to plead "Guilty" or "Not Guilty" to the case.
It is actually more like a routine line-up call by the court to ensure the Defendant intends to handle the case appropriately.
People never plan to go to jail.

There are several way to obtain a jail release.
After a person is arrested, judge will usually set a bond amount.
This will be a dollar amount that is commensurate with the charged offense, taking into account the person's personal criminal history.
Considerations also may be given to whether or not the person has ties to the community and where the place of residence is located.
There can be very serious legal consequences for an individual if they are caught carrying a weapon in the State of Texas in an unlawful manner.
Therefore, it is vitally important to know your rights.
Chapter 46 of The Texas Penal Code defines what all weapons-related criminal charges are classified as.
Regardless of the nature of the weapon, criminal penalties can often be incredibly steep if it is found to be carried in an unlawfulmanner.
Possible sentences may include prison time, fines, or the loss of the right to own a firearm (or deadly weapon).
