Eisenman, Susan Garner
The Law Office of Susan Garner Eisenman provides legal representation and counsel for adoption cases including private, independent, and contested adoptions, and surrogacy and gamete donations. Attorney Eisenman is an adoption parent herself and has over 45 years of experience in the area of adoption. She is compassionate and views adoption as a positive family building option in which the adoptive parents and the biological family plan together for the child's best interest.

Attorney Eisenman believes the process works best when the interests of all members of the adoption triad are considered and respected. As an adoption professional, Attorney Eisenman views her role as that of an educator, facilitator, and advisor rather than a surrogate decision maker. Her office works with clients from a wide range of personal, ethnic, educational, financial, and religious backgrounds.

We also offer free initial consultations and military discounts. I have known Susan for over 30 years and chose her to help my family with the adoption of my son.

The most complete information available is seen as a prerequisite to an informed consent.
Adoption, in addition to being a legal process, is a major life decision having personal and social ramifications.
For this reason, clients are encouraged to utilize available counseling and support group resources.
The Law Office of Susan Garner Eisenman provides legal representation and counsel for private adoptions.
In private adoption, the legal custody of the child goes directly from the biological parent to the adopting parents under the supervision of the probate court.
Its jurisdictions require that you employ an attorney to work with the court system.
The attorney will obtain court approval of your home as a prospective adoption placement, make arrangements concerning medical and legal fees, oversee the initiation of parental rights, collect important social and medical information concerning the child and be a liaison with the birthparents.
While an adoption is a positive event premised upon creating a forever family, sometimes life does not turn out as planned.
Families facing failed adoptions often need legal assistance in resolving their adoption issues and perhaps dissolving the adoption.
Other times, a planned placement fails to finalize as planned, third parties may intervene, and a contested adoption (court action) may occur.
Ms. Eisenman often works with such families.
She routinely works at the Appellate Court level and has Supreme Court experience.

Report
Susan Garner helped us with the adoption of our grandson. She worked both the original adoption case as well as the appeal we had to go through when the magistrate over our case did not follow the law. There are specific (simple and logical) requirements the biological parent(s) must have demonstrated within the past 12 months in order to contest an adoption (such as they at least attempted to stay in touch, attempted to offer some support, etc.) and the bio parent in our case had the ability to meet the requirements but made no attempt for the 12-month period the adoption case was open, so met none of the requirements and legally should not have been able to contest the adoption.

It was scary that our case hinged on a magistrate that decide to through those requirements out the window because she felt it might be worth giving the bio parent another chance once she was out of prison and then out of a rehab, even though to this point she had shown no effort to meet the minimal requirements. We were worried that we would not be able to provide our grandson a forever, safe home.

But Susan was optimistic. She explained the law was clear and she recommended we appeal. We trusted her and we did appeal.

The case was sent to the judge for review who explained through his writings that the law was clear; the law had not been followed and as a result the bio parent did not have the right to contest the adoption. He required the magistrate continue with the process to complete the adoption.

We found her staff and operation run very well and never had any difficulty with getting the information we needed.

We will always be grateful that we selected Susan to represent our adoption.
