He is a graduate of Furman University, recognized as a distinguished military graduate.
After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger and a Military Intelligence Officer, where he attained the rank of Captain.
He obtained his law degree from Stetson University in 1986, has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1987 and has served on the Florida Bar's Fee Arbitration Committee, where he sat on a panel to resolve fee disputes between clients and their attorneys.
