Report
DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, hire Attorney Karmika V. Rubin to represent you. Do your research first! Conducting a simple name search on the Florida Bar, Hillsborough County and Pinellas County courts databases, show the many instances of personal and professional lawsuits, IRS docs for failing to pay taxes, and other instances of unethical/unprofessional behavior. A Google search brings up additional questionable behavior and associations. She was hired to reopen a previous divorce proceeding, to file a motion for contempt and modify an existing Parenting Plan. Once she had the retainer, her communication became poor and the unprofessional behavior began. She sent a Summons with no Motion/Petition attached and claimed she was relying on a Petition/Motion written three years ago by a non-lawyer (which was withdrawn three years prior). She repeatedly claimed to be completing work that never materialized. She sent information about the case to another client, claiming the text message and numbers were somehow "crossed". She refused to provide billing statements or a copy of the Client File. In response to the Complaint filed with the Florida Bar (Walker v Karmika Rubin, esq) she finally attached a list of billing charges which included charges for meetings and conversations that never occurred. In one instance, billing for a meeting on the Memorial Holiday that never occurred. She refuses to return the retainer despite her failure to execute the contract. DO YOUR RESEARCH. This attorney is a perfect example of who NOT TO HIRE.
